Community links and projects
Sydenham High School is involved with the local community in various ways, whether through carol services at local churches, hosting community groups and courses within our school or collecting for the Lewisham Food Bank, we engage with Sydenham’s community wherever possible.
Sixth Formers undertake community service on a weekly basis and our charity prefects often organise fundraising projects for local and international causes.
Some projects are longer than others – we are currently working with St Joseph’s Junior School in Upper Norwood on a Magic Maths project. St Joseph’s Year 5 and 6 pupils had an interactive day of solving unconventional Maths puzzles with Sydenham High staff and Sixth Form followed by teaching discussions regarding changes to the curriculum and diverse teaching methods. We expect the project to run every year and hope to invite St Joseph’s Juniors to Sydenham High School to expand the activities still further.
