Keeping parents involved
It’s not just feedback to girls that’s important – we keep parents in the loop as well making sure you understand not only how your daughter is progressing but also how we are teaching her.
We run workshops for parents about the techniques we use in class. There are reading and maths workshops for Junior School parents and study skills workshops for Senior School parents. At the beginning of every year we introduce you to the goals, curriculum and schedule for the year. It all helps keep you in touch with what is going on.
You receive regular, formal progress reports through grade cards, reports and parents’ evening and we encourage parents to read teachers’ comments on their daughter’s work.
For day-to-day communication there is the school Planner which includes each girl’s class and homework timetable so you can keep in touch with your daughter’s class and form tutors. If there are any concerns then teachers will be in touch; either by a chat in the playground, an email or a quick telephone call.
Of course it’s not just problems that we address. For girls who are doing well, there are merit slips and house points with certificates awarded in regular celebratory assemblies; these are also recorded on your daughter’s school report.
