School Counselling & Psychology Service
Sydenham High School has a strong pastoral ethos in which every student is valued and supported. Central to this approach is encouraging resilience in our students to facilitate their learning. We also aim to identify emotional concerns quickly and effectively when they arise.
Our counselling and psychology service can provide students with a safe space to talk and think about difficulties that they may be experiencing. It can give students an opportunity to reflect upon what is happening to them and consider an alternative perspective. This hopefully enables students to feel more able to cope with challenges and make changes to improve their wellbeing.
Some of the issues that students can experience are as follows:-
- Problems with anxiety and stress; social anxiety;
- Problems with friendships or family
- Depression; loneliness;
- Study problems, such as putting things off (procrastination) and perfectionism;
- Eating disorders;
- Bereavement and loss
