Sixth Form celebrating success - Sydenham High School

Sixth Form celebrating success

edit

Sixth Form prizegiving marks both the celebration of academic success and the last farewell to the class of 2011 before they go up to their universities.
A drinks reception for teachers, parents and our class of 2011 was followed by a ceremony to present certificates, awards and scholarships to all the sixth formers followed by addresses by our guest speakers and a champagne reception in the Dining Hall.

The guest speakers this year were recent alumnae, Marie Claire Amuah and Claire Bennett. Claire is now a British fencing champion and is training for the Olympic squad, Marie Claire had just been called to the Bar of England and Wales and started her pupillage at Bell Yard in October 2011.

The guest speakers, still in their early twenties, recounted their very different pathways to success, both acknowledging that the opportunities provided and the values instilled in them at Sydenham High School were an important foundation stone on their journey.

Mrs Pullen said, ‘Claire and Marie-Claire ‘s pursuit of their passions and goals were inspirational; their honesty about the sacrifices and challenges were moving and motivating for our girls who face a world of opportunity tinged with uncertainty. I have such confidence in today’s alumnae as they leave us with high aspirations, a clear sense of who they are and the strength, resolution and resilience to succeed. I look forward to welcoming them back to speak of their success at our prizegiving in the years to come’.
