Year 7, 8 and 9 celebrating success

To reflect on their progress and success, every form created an exhibition of their best academic and creative work as part of the end-of-year celebrations in July.    Artefacts, workbooks, essays, exam papers, films and even an audio guide were used to demonstrate the vast amount of work that has been covered this year.  Parents joined students and teachers for a short programme of end-of-year reports and performances before viewing the exhibition and catching up with each other over tea and cakes on the lawn.

The competition for the best exhibition display was won by form 7TY who combined a broad range of subjects, creatively displayed and annotated… and worked well together as a team in assembling their display.

The occasion was also a farewell to two popular and longstanding members of the senior staff; Bob Jope, Head of English and Jan Walker, Head of Years 7, 8 and 9.  The head girls led the tributes with moving and sometimes irreverent speeches and films recounting both the inspirational teaching and the more popular stories (or are they myths? Ed) that will be the abiding memories of Mr Jope and Mrs Walker.  The films can be seen on the school intranet SydSpace.
