Record increase in GCSE results - Sydenham High School

Record increase in GCSE results

edit

The GCSE results this year were outstanding, 73% A*/A grades, one of the best results we have ever had. Both A* and A grades were up 7 percentage points on last year.  This is a significant achievement and testimony to hard work by both teachers and students.

There was consistency across the subjects with every subject area achieving at least 60% A*/A grades including sciences, maths, foreign languages, English and creative and performing arts.

Every student took sciences and at least one modern language and three quarters of students studying two modern languages gained 2 A*.

With an average of 10 GCSEs each, the girls have a rich academic foundation for starting their A level studies and preparing for university.

Kathryn Pullen, headteacher said, “The inspection report at the beginning of the year judged the school as outstanding for providing a first-class education that allows our pupils to be intellectually fulfilled at the same time as offering lively and stimulating enrichment beyond the classroom.   I am delighted with these results and the way that these teenagers have achieved a good balance between their social and academic lives.”
