Quick thinking and an eye for composition have helped budding year 7 photographer, Jade Lucas, win a highly commended award in the National Trust’s ‘Your Space’ photographic competition. Her picture of overgrown ruins in the grounds of Scotney Castle in Kent is featured in the current membership magazine and on the National Trust website at www.nationaltrust.org.uk/yourspace
Competition judge Chris Lacey, Manager of the National Trust’s photographic library, said: “The composition was great – we particularly loved that there were two people visible through one of the windows.”
Jade, who was just ten when she took her winning photo last May, was amazed and delighted with her success. “I asked Dad if we could go on a day trip there to take my entry photo. It was complete chance that when we came to the ruined stone windows there was something to see on the other side of them.”
