Sydenham High gets baking and shaking for Comic Relief!

edit

Girls at Sydenham High School really entered into the spirit of Red Nose Day in doing something funny for money and raised over £1000 in the process.

In the senior school, girls were able to pay £2 to wear a onesie around school. Teachers also got into the spirit and, as the girls raised over £100, Mrs McLellan, the Deputy Head, took assembly wearing one!

In addition, each tutor group baked and decorated a Comic Relief themed cake.  The stunning results were on display in assembly and were later judged by Ms Prendergast. The winning cakes were: a ‘Go for it girls’ cake featuring Headteacher Mrs Pullen in a bath of baked beans from Y13 and an innovative lollipop cake from Y9 but all the cakes were really beautiful and cleverly designed and picking just two was a hard task.  All 23 cakes were sold lunch time to raise further funds.

Meanwhile more than 200 junior school pupils and their teachers collected donations by recreating the Harlem Shake dance phenomena as the Sydenham Shake out in the playground.  With everyone wearing an amazing collection of costumes, wigs, glasses and pom poms – all on a red theme, of course – it was a spectacular sight to generate lots of fun and lots of donations.
