Double netball success - Sydenham High School

Double netball success

edit

Our netball teams have scored not one but two major wins all in one week.

First the Year 7 team, which has been going from strength to strength in their matches this term, was victorious in the Lewisham Borough Netball tournament.  They swept aside their opponents, not letting in a single goal, as a result qualifying to represent the borough in the forthcoming London Youth Games.

The winning team was: Isabella Daley, Francesca Dinsdale, Maria Torren Peraire, Olivia Eades, Isobel Roberts, Sophie Harris (Captain), Ella Wint-Kearney, Margaux Brewin, Eleanor Press and Greta Burton.

The U16 squad followed this triumph by successfully negotiating the Kent Netball prelims in amazing style. This talented and determined team claimed victories in all their matches and, against a field of 57 other schools, secured a place in the Kent finals on Saturday 6 December.

According to PE teacher Ms Bhadeshia every girl played superbly and deserves to be heaped with praise.  However the performance of one particular player, Eleanor Jeffery, summed up the team’s success for Ms Bhadeshia: “Netball and I have known each other for 28 years and I have never seen a girl fall off a netball court yet still manage to not only get the ball back on to the court but also into the net!”

The full team was: Zayn Rahman, Milly Taylor, Amelia Bourne, Kira Chathli, Lily Paterson, Hannah Bucknor, Eleanor Jeffery, Ally Housley, Naomi Garbrah (Captain), Jo Stone and Lola Cookman

Well done to both teams and the very best of luck with their next challenges!
