GCSE students achieve stellar grades yet again!

edit

Sydenham High GDST has been celebrating the success of its GCSE students, including large numbers of girls securing the coveted A* grade.

Sixty-three per cent of students gained A*-A grades and twenty-eight per cent achieved specifically A*s, with four girls – Vina Saleh, Evie Richards, Kate Wyncoll and Anna Carrington – all achieving the magic number of eleven A* grades and above. A further six girls scored nine A* grades and above.

Evie Richards and Rachel Honeysett’s achievements are the icing on the cake for what has already been a successful year. In June they scooped three prizes in the prestigious Young Reporter Awards amongst a field of entrants from over 60 participating schools. Juggling revision and managing deadlines is not easy but the girls have proven they have what it takes to come out on top! Evie and Rachel take up scholarships at Sydenham High’s Sixth Form next month.

Sydenham High girls performed particularly well in the Sciences with 100% of Biology and Physics students and 94% of Chemistry students scoring A*-B grades. This success was replicated by the Drama and Maths departments with 100% of Drama grades A*-B and 100% of Statistic grades A*-A.

Kathryn Pullen, Sydenham High’s Headteacher, said: “I am thrilled by and proud of such a wonderful set of results that shows how the hard work of students and staff enables our girls to achieve to the highest standard. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the girls achieve as they go on to A-levels and beyond.”
