Year 3 connect to science in the great outdoors

Year 3 students explored a wide range of habitats, from woodlands to grasslands to hedgerows, when they recently paid a visit to Bromley Environmental Education Centre at High Elms.

The trip was part of Year 3’s science study about plants within their Connect topic: To Infinity and Beyond.

The location and bright sunny day of their visit provided an ideal setting for some great environmental and scientific fieldwork activities.

The students completed the nature trail, exploring different types of bluebells and trees, particularly marvelling at the Hazel trees.

Year 3 learnt about different species of plant and how different types of seeds are dispersed. The girls also planted sunflower seeds and brought them back to school.  Everyone is now keen to see whose sunflower will sprout first!
