Junior concert strikes the right note - Sydenham High School

Junior concert strikes the right note

edit

There was not a spare seat in the house for the recent Junior School May Day Concert. The parents of children in Reception, year 1 and year 2 were treated to an afternoon of exceptional musicianship, concentration and sheer energy from all the performers.

The musical event provided an opportunity for their parents to see and hear for themselves the high quality and sheer exuberance of the girls through various solo and ensemble performances.

The afternoon’s programme started with some energetic ensemble singing by all the classes and continued with whole class performances, interspersed with solo piano, violin, harp, flute and guitar pieces.

Each class had composed and prepared an instrumental/vocal performance piece for which the class had given them intriguing titles – ‘Simba’ (Reception), ‘Planet Earth’ (year 1), ‘Forest Magic’ (2D) and ‘Summer Rainbow Lullaby’ (2ML).

The concert finished with more ensemble singing and the audience joined in enthusiastically with ‘Community Song’.
