Congratulations to year 9 student Morgan Lee who has successfully completed her first Triathlon. Morgan took part in the challenging event on Sunday 24 September at Hever Castle in Kent. Here is her report:-
“I was very nervous before the race as I had failed to complete the race last year as a a result of a bad bike crash. and was desperate to finish.
“I competed in the 13 to 15-year old race, which required me to swim 300 metres in the lake (we suits were mandatory due to the cold water), followed by an 8 kilometre bike ride through the castle grounds and finished off with a 2,400 metre run. There were two transition stages between the swim and the bike ride (here you have to take your wet suit off and put on a cycling helmet and trainers), and between the cycle and the run (here the bike has to be stored).
“I completed the race in 1 hour 4 minutes and 47 seconds and came 54th our of 87 girls. I was particularly pleased with my run which I did in 13 minutes 49 seconds (which was 23rd fastest and 27 seconds quicker than the average time). Overall I was very pleased with my performance, and hope to do it in less than an hour next time.”
