As this half-term drew to a close, the Senior School today came dressed in mufti to help raise further funds for Kiko Matthews’ chosen charity, King’ College London. Kiko first came to Sydenham High when she was our guest speaker at prize-giving last summer and we are proud to be sponsoring her as she attempts to become the fastest female to row the Atlantic Ocean solo and unsupported. Having survived a rare and life-threatening condition, Kiko is using this adventure as a way of saying thank you to the hospital which saved life. Kiko has been out on the river with our rowers and set off on her incredible journey just over a week ago. She is an inspiration to us all and Kiko’s belief “that anyone can attempt anything given the right attitude, belief and support” resonates with our motto of fearing nothing. Kiko hopes to use her story to inspire women to challenge themselves on many levels.
