Brain Bootcamp 2022 - Sydenham High School

Brain Bootcamp 2022

edit

On Thursday 17 March, we were delighted to see such an enthusiastic turnout from Senior School parents and pupils who were invited to school for our annual Brain Bootcamp. With presentations from three experts, the event was designed to focus on how best to nourish the brain, with a specific look at adolescent sleep patterns and eating for a good night’s sleep.

We welcomed back Sydenham Prep School alumna and Nutritional Therapist, Sophie Trotman who talked about eating for a good night’s sleep and how to ensure that adolescents are taking in the optimum amount of macro and micro nutrients in their diet.

Dr Jenna Vyas-Lee, who is a Clinical Psychologist with many years’ experience in Sleep Clinics, spoke about the importance of sleep for the adolescent brain and how to develop and maintain healthy sleep patterns.

Our inhouse caterers, Accent Catering, highlighted the variety of important nutrients needed for a healthy brain across the menu available at school. They also compiled a useful Brain Food recipe book containing some of their take-home recipes which are designed to support brain health and function.

After an interesting Q&A, there was an opportunity to taste the recipes for real in the Orangery and a further chance to discuss individual matters with the experts.
