After meeting at Leatherhead station for 8:30am on Saturday morning, for this year’s set of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award candidates, their expedition took them along the Mole Gap Trail towards High Ashurst Outdoor Centre. The Surrey Hills views are a certified ‘Area of Outstanding Beauty’ and our year 10 pupils managed to soak in the scenes throughout their expedition.
After decamping and making breakfast, their Sunday consisted of hiking along the North Downs to Reigate station in order to make their way home for a well deserved rest. With the weather holding out – not too hot but not too cold – and only a few short showers across the whole weekend, it’s safe to say that the first Duke of Edinburgh’s expedition of the year was a resounding success.
