Meera - Sydenham High School

Meera

Year 7 Senior School

I have just started in year 7, after spending seven years in the Prep School from Reception through to year 6. I had an absolutely amazing time at the Prep. It was the best fun and of course I also learnt a lot! I really wanted to continue to senior school. My family has a long connection with Sydenham High – my mum and both my aunts came here and my sister is currently in year 10.

I am really grateful to the Senior School teachers who, despite us being in the middle of a pandemic, managed to organise several events for all the new year 7s, which gave us the opportunity to talk with one and other so it was not awkward on our first proper day.

Moving onto Senior School is a big jump, but at Sydenham everyone is so friendly that you feel you immediately feel welcomed and a part of the Sydenham family.

In our lessons our teachers welcome us with smiles and a fun lesson ahead and most certainly with a mindset to help us. Our lessons include challenging questions, laughter, and the ability to disagree and debate.

Moving onto Senior School is a big jump especially from being the oldest in your primary school and all the younger pupils looking up to you to suddenly becoming the youngest, but at Sydenham everyone is so friendly that you feel you immediately feel welcomed and a part of our Sydenham family.

With teachers like ours all fears are taken away and we feel able to think outside of the box and to take on real challenges, this is what we all value.
