Ruby - Sydenham High School

Ruby

Yr 3 Prep School

Ruby joined Sydenham High Prep in Reception and has made the most of all the opportunities on offer both in and outside the classroom. Ruby has a passion for reading and has developed a discerning taste in the books she likes to read. You can often find Ruby spending time amongst the non-fiction books in our Discovery Zone. Books that most often spark her curiosity are about pioneering women who have made a name for themselves in science, conservation and engineering. ‘Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls’ by Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo is one her favourites.

Ruby has a passion for reading and has developed a discerning taste in the books she likes to read.

Ruby is also has a strong creative side and everyone in the Prep School has benefitted from a wonderful art project that Ruby’s mother led in the Prep for all girls from Reception to year 6. The project involved the creation of a large scale mural inspired by our Flourish & Fly student development programme. Installed around the main staircase and atrium in the Prep, the mural was created with contributions from all girls and depicts a bright, eye catching rainforest scene. It tells the story of how overcoming adversity can produce great outcomes and even features a life size giraffe to remind all Sydenham High girls that we are Giraffe Girls who stand tall, stick their necks out and always try new things.

Harriet

Harriet is a wonderful advocate of the Sydenham Spirit. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Harriet joined Sydenham High Prep in Reception, aged 4 and, since then, she has shown an insatiable appetite for learning.
