Celebrating Diwali – the Festival of Light

Celebrating Diwali

This week, our School Council pupils helped us prepare for Diwali by creating beautiful clay lamps to mark this joyful festival. The classrooms were filled with colour and creativity as the girls painted their lamps in vibrant patterns, symbolising light, hope, and new beginnings.

Diwali is a time for celebration, reflection, and togetherness. It holds special significance for members of our Hindu community, representing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Our classrooms were buzzing with festive activities today designed to introduce the significance of this beautiful celebration.

The highlight was seeing our students’ incredible artistic flair:

Vibrant Rangoli: Students worked together to create stunning rangoli patterns, traditional designs made of coloured rice or powder, symbolizing good luck. The intricate details and bright colours truly lit up our common areas.

Creative Card Making: Many students channelled their artistry into designing and decorating beautiful Diwali cards, ready to share with friends and family.

Sweet Treats in EYFS/Year 1: Our youngest learners (EYFS and Year 1) had a delightful time decorating a Diwali pattern biscuit. They used icing and sprinkles to create edible masterpieces, adding a delicious, hands-on element to the festivities.

A huge well done to all our students for their enthusiastic participation!  We are so proud to celebrate the diversity within our school and the values that unite us all.
