Our Mind, Body & Soul drop-down days are a key part of our award winning MBS co-curricular programme and offer huge benefits as a complimentary element of our holistic education alongside our curriculum.
With over 40 activities to choose from throughout the school, the students spent their day fully nourishing their mind, body and their soul, a perfect way to release the pressures of the hard work of the half term.
With a new activity each period, students explored activities from Japanese calligraphy and self defence to British Sign Language and a beginners lesson of the ukulele.
“This is my first Mind, Body, Soul day, and I really enjoy it because it’s got a really wide variety of activities and clubs that you can do. You can meet other people from your year group, it’s a day when the school community can come together and take part in enriching, fun activities.”
Year 7 student
Year 8 students were on a residential trip to Liverpool to explore the rich history and art the city has to offer, with remaining students taking part in a wide range of activities, including first aid. Ran by an external lead, this session was only available to Year 8 students, where they learnt CPR and other lifesaving skills.
Year 9’s followed a similar schedule, with students on a Classics or a PE trip, while remaining students at school were offered specialist classes, such as intro to law, intro to finance and new for 2026, ‘The Sydenham Edition’, where students hosted a Question Time style debate on the Australian under 16 social media ban.
Year 10 students were all off site visiting either The Science Museum, the immersive experience of Pompeii or GCSE rock climbing. Students at The Science Museum blended scientific inquiry with social bonding, as they explored their understanding of identity, technology and the natural world. Year 11 students spent the day refining their Physics and Biology skills in preparation of their upcoming GCSE’s but also were lucky enough to visit our new building sites! As part of the potential first Sixth Form cohort to be in the new building, Year 11s were excited to have a tour of what will be their new base.
Year 12s spent the day getting stuck in and supporting activities across the school, offering invaluable support to younger years and staff, as well as learning key skills themselves, both within the activity and the skills it takes to lead.
