Football Highlights
U14 Football vs Bromley
On Tuesday the U14 Football team played against Bromley. It was a strong performance, with the girls showing a clear understanding of their positional roles and working well together to regain possession. They created plenty of chances with strong build-up play and accurate passing. A positive team performance from all—well done, girls!
U13 Football vs Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich
This was a commanding performance from the U13 Football team. With strong defensive organisation from the start, the team built confident passages of play from the back and created numerous chances in front of goal.
At half-time, they were 1–0 up—confident but aware there was still work to do. The second half saw goals at both ends, but thanks to goals from Ella, Elodie, Sara and Amelie, the team secured a fantastic 4–2 win.
Hockey Highlights
U16 Hockey vs St Dunstan’s
The U16 Hockey team travelled to St Dunstan’s this week for a tough match. It was encouraging to see the girls working as a unit and moving the ball with confidence around the pitch. They have been focusing on being more physically competitive, and this is beginning to show in their performances.
A fantastic goal was created by Matilda, who drove the ball up the pitch before Charlotte finished with a reverse stick shot.
Although the final score was a 3–1 loss, it was positive to see how many chances the team created in front of goal.
Swimming Highlights
Swim Gala vs Bromley High
Lilias won the U13 100m IM.
Our GCSE swimmers competed well to complete their footage requirements, with Anya and Sasha swimming strongly.
The U13 relay team—Amelie, Tabby, Lilias and Georgie—won both the 4×100 IM Relay and the 4×100 Freestyle Relay. Amelie swam a brilliant breaststroke leg in the IM relay, and Tabby’s third leg in the freestyle relay made up significant ground to help secure the win.
All pupils performed really well.
Netball Highlights
U12A–D Netball vs Sydenham School
On Monday the U12A–D Netball teams played against Sydenham School. It was lovely to see the girls demonstrate the skills and tactics they have been working on in training.
In the B team, Lydia and Tabby worked brilliantly together in defence, controlling the space and hunting the ball. Minnie scored all three goals to secure the win.
In the A team, it was a solid all-round performance, with special mention to Imona and Sophia who were dominant on court and controlled the game. A brilliant 25–4 win.
U16 & U15 Netball vs Bromley
Also on Tuesday, the girls travelled to Bromley for competitive Netball fixtures. It was great to see them settling into a strong rhythm and gelling as a squad on court. Their speed was impressive, and they took the game to the opposition with well-timed movements and determination in 50/50 contests.
There was strong individual progress too: Saskia held the front space well, Lottie showed increased dominance in the defending circle, and possession was maintained effectively through the centre court.
It was wonderful to see four Sydenham teams out on the astro on Thursday evening, with so many girls enjoying sport as the U13 and U14 A and B teams took to the courts against Croydon High School. There was friendly rivalry, and it was great to see the strategies practised in training being used competitively.
Congratulations to Eva A, Immo, Samuella and Caitlin for being selected as Players of the Match.
