CARE & WELLBEING

The wellbeing of our pupils is paramount. Pastoral care is the cornerstone of our provision and we strive to ensure that each and every pupil is supported to feel happy, safe and secure within our school community.

Our approach to pastoral care focuses upon strong and positive relationships between pupils and staff as well as an open partnership with parents.

We also have clear expectations of behaviour enshrined in our Golden Rules:

  •     We are kind, helpful and always consider others.
  •     We respect each other and celebrate our differences.
  •     We look after property and do not damage things.
  •     We work hard and do not waste time.
  •     We work together and make sure everything is fair.
  •     We listen to others and share our ideas.
  •     We are gentle and do not hurt others.
  •     We are honest and never cover up the truth.

There is strong pastoral support from teaching staff who closely monitor pupils’ progress, both socially and emotionally, throughout the year. The size of the school also makes a difference: pupils are visible and well-known as individuals. Staff can be flexible and responsive to the specific needs of every pupil as a unique individual.

Pupils interact with each other with kindness and with adults with confidence, reflecting the school’s values.

What is a Giraffe Girl?

Fina the giraffe is our Prep School mascot and our pupils are affectionately known as ‘Giraffe Girls’. They are kind, thoughtful, considerate, courageous, determined and diligent.

Our school thrives on supportive and warm relationships, with our Giraffe Girls standing tall, aiming high and sticking their necks out for other people.

Our hand drawn Giraffe Girl characters reflect our values. Are you an Ambitious Arya or a Kind Kalifa – perhaps a Networked Nelia?

We promote the qualities of our Giraffe Girl characters through themed weeks. Pupils may resonate with particular characters, but they are reminded that each and every quality is valued and form the foundation for a rounded member of society.

Play Leaders

Our older pupils are trained as Inspired Leaders, to organise and lead games and activities during playtime. They act as positive role models, promote social interaction, and help create a fun and engaging atmosphere on the playground.

The Wellbeing Hub

We are delighted to announce that we’ve invested in The Wellbeing Hub.

Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students, parents, and staff is a top priority for us.
