Our attitude to sport in the Prep School involves all pupils (from Reception to Year 6) keeping active, honing skills and developing a sense of team spirit. All pupils receive specialist Physical Education (PE) teaching each week.
Pupils from Reception to Year 2 focus on securing proficiency in the basic multi-skills of rolling, catching, travelling and striking as well as gaining an introduction to gymnastics. As pupils move into Year 3 and beyond, the focus shifts towards mastering the game-play of netball, hockey, rounders and football alongside athletics and cross-country running.

As pupils progress into Year 2, the focus shifts towards mastering the game-play of netball, hockey, rounders and football alongside athletics and cross-country running.
From Year 3, our pupils have the opportunity to represent the school in numerous competitive fixtures and tournaments against other local schools as well as participating in regular GDST sporting rallies. In addition, all pupils come together once a term to participate in a major Inter-House sporting tournament.
Swimming is a feature of the Prep School PE curriculum. As well as making use of the large gymnasium and all-weather pitch facilities at Senior School, Prep School pupils frequently visit our Sports Ground in Lower Sydenham for athletics events and Sports Days.
