Starting in Year 8 pupils focus right from the outset on communicating at sentence level on a variety of familiar topics. Key skills such as listening, reading, memorisation, translation, as well as developing fluency in speaking and writing are regularly developed and consolidated in lessons and through homework. At key stage 3, pupils also learn about Italian culture. This will provide a strong foundation for the GCSE course should pupils continue with Italian at key stage 4.
