3 - Assessments

Sixth Form candidates should expect to achieve a minimum of 7 GCSE passes at grades A*-C (9 to 5) in the summer before entry, including a minimum of a C (5) in both English Language and Mathematics. A minimum of a B grade (6) is required for any subject to be studied at A Level. Some subjects, specifically Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths, will require an A grade (7) at GCSE. To study Physics or Chemistry, an A grade (7) in Maths will also be required. We will also consider equivalent international qualifications.

Admission is on the basis of an interview with the Headmistress or the Director of Sixth Form and a good reference (with predicted GCSE grades) from the candidate’s current school. Occasionally, we may ask a girl to sit a short test in a particular subject or subjects.

Scholarships and Bursaries

For entry in September 2021 the Sixth Form scholarship examination will be on Friday 13 November 2020. Those students who wish to apply for a scholarship should submit a scholarship application form by Friday 6 November 2020. Students who are new to the school must also register before they can complete a scholarship application form. The scholarship examination is not subject-specific and requires no special preparation. All applicants for Sixth Form Scholarships will also be interviewed by the Director of Sixth Form.

Candidates who wish to apply for a bursary in Sixth Form must indicate this on the application form and will be sent a link by our Registrar in late September in order to submit the bursary application by the deadline of Friday 6 November.
