Syd Sisters Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Programme - Sydenham High School

Syd Sisters Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Programme

edit

Mentoring is a powerful tool that benefits both mentors and mentees by creating meaningful connections, developing listening skills, and fostering a sense of being heard. It’s about sharing learning experiences.

At Sydenham High, we value the well-being of our pupils and firmly believe in empowering each other to thrive together.

This week saw the launch of our Syd Sisters Mentoring Programme across both Prep and Senior Schools.

Our Head of Lower School, Mrs Evan, has been working with Year 12 to develop the programme since the start of the academic year. The Year 12 students were trained in core mentoring skills by Mrs Evans to enable them to provide peer to peer mentoring for girls in the Lower School.

The pupils had their first meet-up yesterday morning, and spent time getting to know each other over croissants and juice. They will continue to meet on a weekly basis after half-term. We look forward to sharing more updates on the programme later in the year.

Down the hill at our Prep School, the Syd Sisters were also busy getting to know each other too. Also trained in mentoring techniques, the older girls joined their younger counterparts across the classrooms to share their paper doll self portraits before splitting in to small groups to find out about all the things they have in common with one another.
