Philosophy, Religion & Ethics at Sydenham High School introduces pupils to some of life’s key philosophical, religious and moral questions, aiming to equip them with the ability to reflect on their own views and values, understand and appreciate those of others and learn to articulate themselves in order to form an argument. Each topic at key stage 3 is presented as a question for students to consider, beginning in Year 7 with ‘What do different people believe?’ and including such topics as ‘Should we ever take human life?’ and ‘Is religion good for women?’. Lessons are lively, interactive and often include impassioned debate!
