Girls get wacky for Philippines Typhoon Appeal

edit

Sydenham High students are channeling their wacky side this week and it’s all in aid of charity.

Each day girls and teachers at Senior School are donning a different wacky look to help raise funds for the Philippines Typhoon Appeal.

Monday called for wacky hair – colours, styles and accessories; Tuesday for wacky ties; Wednesday for wacky jumpers; Thursday for wacky legwear and Friday for wacky nails.  To participate, everyone pays a minimum of £2 but they can donate more if they wish.

Sydenham High Junior School is joining in with a Wacky Friday event.

The school is also approaching local businesses to contribute to the appeal and the team at Robinson Jackson Estate Agents in Kirkdale have started the ball rolling with a very generous donation of £500.

Deputy Head Karl Guest, who is organising the fundraising activity, said: “We have a long tradition of charitable fundraising here at Sydenham High and, having all been shocked by the devastation experienced by the people of the Philippines, the girls and staff were determined to play our part in contributing to the disaster appeal.

“We hope that this week of events will not only raise a lot of money but will give us an opportunity to really join together as a school community to raise awareness of the terrible plight of those in need.”
