Year 5 netball teams court success

Year 5’s netball teams have had an exceptionally busy and successful half term. First they got the opportunity to take part in the annual GDST netball competition held in Oxford, in place of Year 6 who were unable to attend. The girls played extremely well and won two out of their eight games against much older girls, beating Norwich and then Northampton in the play-offs to finish 17th in the tournament.

Next the Year 5 A team played in the U10 netball tournament at St Christopher’s. Sydenham High beat all three teams in their group, including JAPS, to get through to the next round. They eventually lost to St Christopher’s A team by one goal in the closing minutes losing by one goal, finishing in third place overall.

The final highlight was triumphing over Dulwich Hamlet at home 5-2, through great defending and great work from a superb centre and goal shooter and despite Dulwich Hamlet’s extremely tall goalkeeper.
