Year 8 designers shine in Crystal Palace Festival competition

Two year 8 students had a big surprise during school assembly this week (Monday 12 June) when they discovered they were runners up in the Crystal Palace Overground Festival design competition.

Daisy Adelaja came second and Tamina Boss came third with their designs for the backdrop for the Youth Takeover Stage, as the free festival returns to the heart of the park with its largest event to date.  The brief was to create an original design that is vibrant and reflects pride in being a young person in South London.

Daisy and Tamina received their awards and prizes from Crystal Palace Overground Festival community worker Nicola Kelly, who also gave certificates to all students who took part.

The Youth Takeover stage is aimed at showcasing the talent of local young people and will feature a range of genres.  Some 8,000 visitors are expected to attend the culmination of the Festival in the Park at the weekend.
