Success at the Beckenham Festival!

edit

The Beckenham Festival of Speech and Drama, took place on Saturday at the Westwood Theatre where lots of Prep girls were in competition with pupils from local schools. The Festival is one of the largest amateur competitive performing arts festivals in the south-east of England. There are around 450 classes in Music, Dancing and Speech & Drama, with specialist adjudicators in all sections. As well as certificates and medals there are over 200 cups and trophies to be won.

Everyone had a wonderful time and here are some of the results:

Marnie Ugo-Evans scooped the Drama Shield for  for the 3rd year running with her uplifting scene from Terence Rattigan’s, ‘The Winslow Boy’.

Daisy Patton was awarded the Bronze medal in the same category for her emotional piece, ‘A Terrible Rage’.

Most of the girls were performing for the first time, to a packed audience of parents, siblings and grandparents, putting the school’s ethos of ‘Fear Nothing’ firmly into practice!

It is wonderful to see the children gaining confidence and pride in themselves before your eyes, and fantastic to see so many parents supportive and appreciative of the event.
