Year 6 visit the V&A Museum

To support their Spring Term study of the ancient city of Baghdad and 1001 Arabian Nights, 6SM spent the day at the Victoria & Albert Museum on Tuesday. The focus of the visit was investigating patterns from around the world, including the Islamic Middle East.

Pupils had the opportunity to find out how the designs of the Islamic Middle East inspired the patterns designs of William Morris as well as explore how patterns are created through repetition, symmetry and tessellation and spot different pattern types throughout the museum. As well as close examination of the museum’s impressive collections there was also the chance to create digital and paper designs of their own.

Thank you to the parent helpers who supported this trip. 6SU will participate in the same trip on Wednesday 6 March 2019.
