A Level Sociologists hear from groundbreaking speaker

edit

On Friday our A Level Sociology students had an inspiring afternoon at the Sociology in Action conference, which aims to bring academic content into the real world, discuss current sociological research and important social issues.

The day began with Aisha Thomas from Representation Matters delivering a powerful talk on the importance of diversity and representation in education, before being followed by talks from leading university professors on the role of AI in policing, the experience of growing up in countries with deep income inequalities and the sociological experience of disability.

It was also very exciting to hear Professor Judy Wajcman from the LSE discussing her groundbreaking work looking at gender relations in technology and the importance of developing inclusive feminist technoscience. Everyone left the conference better informed on vital issues and really inspired by the excellent speakers.
