Prep School Book Week was a roaring success

edit

Book Week has been a roaring success with the principal aim to encourage every child to foster a love for reading. In our school, books are a source of daily inspiration, transporting pupils to far off and distant lands and awakening young minds to new characters and cultures. It was incredibly fitting therefore, for us to have three author visits.

The first was Puneet Bhandal, author of the Bollywood Academy book series, captivated pupils with extracts from her books and top writing tips before treating the girls to a Bollywood dance workshop. Anna Kemp visited to talk about some of the wonderful books she has written, encouraging the spirit of adventure and creativity in a fantasy setting, Goblyn Wood. Fairies were even discovered in the school with a letter arriving in the Pre-Prep! And finally, Peter Bently led captivating workshops for Pre-Prep, inspiring writing and storytelling amongst our youngest budding Giraffe Girl authors in the making.

Syd-sisters came together to share much loved books and the dress up day for World Book Day culminating in a vibrant parade out in the playground.  Children enjoyed their visit to Kirkdale bookshop and we hope they enjoy reading the books they selected using their tokens.
