Pupils’ Voice – Round Table and Breakfast Champion

Round Table

At our school, providing opportunities and listening to our pupils’ voices are principles we take great pride in. This week marked the inception of our first Year 11 Round Table meeting. These gatherings hold significant importance within our school’s pupil voice initiative, fostering leadership skills among our students. Each year group convenes for Round Table discussions on a half-termly basis, offering students a platform to share their perspectives and school experiences.

During these sessions, we emphasise both positive experiences and areas for potential improvement as identified by the students. Attended by members of the Upper School Student Board, comprising two representatives from each form, along with the Head of Section/Head of Year, these meetings facilitate open dialogue and constructive feedback.  Following the Round Table discussions, matters raised are deliberated upon during form time, and subsequently, form representatives disseminate feedback to their respective groups. This ensures that the student body remains informed and engaged in the ongoing dialogue about enhancing our school environment.

We also value the feedback from our students, who express a desire for more social time, given their dedication in class and involvement in clubs and societies during their free periods. This Thursday, Y10MHU took the initiative to organize and host a breakfast for the rest of their year group. These breakfast gatherings serve multiple purposes: they encourage generosity, foster teamwork and organizational skills, and underscore the importance of starting the day with a healthy breakfast (although pastries tend to be the most popular choice!).

It’s heartening to witness our students enjoying each other’s company over a cup of hot chocolate, strengthening bonds and creating memorable moments beyond the classroom.
