Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2024

“What types of minds make the perfect team?

This was the question we posed in this week’s assembly! Six of our Year 7 pupils took the stage to emphasize the importance of embracing neurodiversity and dispelling myths and stereotypes. They also provided tips on how to support neurodivergent individuals:

  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
  • Give us time to process things; don’t rush us.
  • Ask us how you can help.
  • Make small adjustments.
  • Remember that everyone is different.

We are immensely proud of these courageous and articulate pupils—Neve, Cecile, Maya, Laura, Evie, and Esther—who shared their experiences to help us all understand how to provide support.

Additionally, our Neurodiversity Panel met with Year 6 pupils on the same day, showcasing our Syd Sisters’ mentoring in action. The Year 6 girls asked brilliant questions, and valuable tips were shared. We plan to arrange more sessions in the future so that they will receive support from senior pupils.

Congratulations to Salome for having her story in print!!! Well done for being resilient and shining through the creative writing stage.

This serves as a fantastic showcase of how we embrace Neurodiversity. It’s crucial to recognize and celebrate our differences. A culture of kindness and compassion can go a long way! Together, we stand undivided!”
