On Monday, 22nd April 2024, we celebrated Earth Day, with this year’s theme being ‘Planet vs Plastics’. Here at Sydenham High, we understand the significance of raising awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution. Our community participated in the Big Plastic Count and the Big Walk and Wheel activities back in March. Among the data collected, it was striking to note that 74% of the plastic waste originated from food and drink. In response, we collaborated with our catering provider, Accent, to replace all single-use plastic pots with china ramekins—a small change, yet a meaningful step towards a more sustainable future.
