Last Saturday, Mrs O’Neill took our Year 7 pupils to participate in the International Competition for Young Debaters Final.

Anabelle and Maya showcased remarkable talent and resilience at the international finals of a prestigious debating competition. Despite being Year 7 students, they held their own against competitors from around the world, including older peers and teams from various countries. Their participation in four British parliamentary style debates, with only 15 minutes of preparation for each, is truly commendable. Addressing complex topics ranging from education models to climate change policies, they demonstrated maturity and critical thinking beyond their years. Their notable achievements, including securing 3rd and 2nd place in different debates, reflect their dedication and proficiency in debating. Moreover, their willingness to learn from Oxford student judges and observe other debates highlights their commitment to improvement. As they continue their debating journey, we have no doubt that Anabelle, Maya, and other junior debaters will continue to excel and grow stronger with each experience. Their success is a testament to their hard work, determination, and potential for future greatness.
