As part of their community work this term year 10 arranged an afternoon of volunteering at Castlebar Care Centre in Sydenham.
The afternoon proved to be great fun for students and residents alike, and gave the students a real opportunity to give something back to their local community as well as gain a deeper understanding the needs of a different generation.
A number of students devised a programme of musical entertainment for the residents and led a singalong, as well as giving individual performances.
Other students volunteered to bake cakes and provide food for a delicious afternoon tea which they served to the residents and enjoyed with them whilst chatting to them and hearing about their memories of the local area.
The residents were clearly delighted by the girls and look forward to them making a return visit in the future.
