Year 7 challenge themselves at Grosvenor Hall

edit

Our Year 7s thoroughly enjoyed their residential ‘bonding’ trip to Grosvenor Hall, returning with stories of rock climbing, giant swings, campfires, singing and the sharing of secrets and sweets!

The archery instructor singled out our girls, saying that she had never seen another school group persevere so hard to fully complete the activity and our teachers have been full of praise for the kindness and encouragement the girls showed to each other. But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s some comments from a few of our pupils:

At Grosvenors Hall we did lots of fun activities including rock climbing , team tech and orienteering . At first I was a bit nervous but my friends were supportive of me and helped me get through it . – Neve

Everyone was very helpful and kind, especially other students including others in team exercises and building.

For me I think most people in my group enjoyed the 3G swing. I didn’t go on it but I really liked seeing everyones reactions when they were up in the swing. Being away from home for me was easier than I expected. I did miss my family but going on this trip was a great experience and I’m hoping to have another one like this again !” -Megan

The highlight of the Y7 trip for me was the campfire because it was really fun singing songs, dancing and listening to the jokes of others in the year group”

The highlight of the Y7 trip for me was being in a dorm and activity group with other people I have never met!  Also, I made lots of new friends”.

And even our staff had fun too!

It was great to see them bonding, working together, problem solving and just being kind and friendly. At the campfire, two students led a ‘repeat after me’ type song, and they were really supported by the rest of the year group.” – Mrs Calvert, Head of Year 7

For myself, it was nice to see my form and my Year 7 teaching group outside of school which gave me a little more on each individual’s personality.  It was also great to hear from some of the instructors about how much the pupils from our school were involved with all the activities.  I witnessed a lot of kindness, support and encouragement from all the different activity groups.  I was tired at the end of the trip, but it was worth it!” – Mr Guevara
