Black History Month goes out in style with a “Jollof-Off”

edit

It may have been the first day back but we capped off what has been a jam-packed programme of Black History Month events with the “Jollof-Off”. The premise was simple, before half-term competitors signed up in order to go head-to-head to see which pupil (and country) makes the best jollof rice.

Judged by our panel of experts including Accent’s very own rice aficionado Katherine, alongside Dr Waites, Mrs Ellison and Mrs Clarke-Josephs, there were over ten different portions of jollof in need of tasting. But there could only be one winner. Announced in assembly on Wednesday:

In third place was Aisling, year 8, who was representing Ghana. In second place was Nielle, year 7, who was representing both Ghana and Guyana. And in first place, and the recipient of both a bespoke trophy and an Amazon voucher was Selliah, year 12, who was representing the West African country of Sierra Leone.

Congratulations to all our participants! We look forward to seeing who brings their Jollof skills to the table next year.
