The Classics and PRE Departments embarked on a trip to St Albans with Year 9 today to explore the ancient Roman sites, investigating artefacts and archaeological remains in Verulamium Park and the best collection of mosaics outside the Mediterranean in the Verulamium Museum.

After half term, Year 9 will be creating a short story based around the objects they engage with on the trip and create a storyline set in 60 CE when Boudicca rebelled against the Romans and burnt St Albans to the ground.

The group also enjoyed a walking tour of St Albans Cathedral to learn more about the life and death of Saint Alban during the Roman invasion of Britain, exploring the relationship between Roman religion and Christianity at the time when St Alban was persecuted by the Romans for his dedication to his Christian faith.
