Anti-Bullying Week at Prep - Sydenham High School

Anti-Bullying Week at Prep

edit

Across the Prep School, children have been championing our ‘Reach Out’ theme for Anti-Bullying week. We enjoyed seeing some crazy sock combinations on Monday to kick start the week on ‘Odd Socks’ Day. Pupils have actively started wider discussions about the important role we all play in spreading kindness through our words and actions and not accepting bullying behaviour in any shape or form. As a school, we have a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to bullying and take this very seriously as every child has the right to come to school, feel safe and secure, every single day. Our Safeguarding Committee of pupils have been integral in sharing this message and celebrating today with their class the inspiring learning points and considerations we have all made as a school, handing out yellow smiley faced keyrings to classmates. Year 6, following a workshop Mrs Panton led on Tuesday morning, wrote their own personal pledges about how they will spread the ‘Reach Out’ message. A few examples included:

Charlotte: “I will spread the Reach Out message by making sure that if anyone is left out of a game, I will immediately include them in mine.”

Maya: “I will spread the Reach Out message by standing up for myself and making people aware they can come to me if they are in a sticky situation. I will try to be positive and kind to everyone and not short-tempered. I will also try to be a good friend.”

Anna: “I will spread the Reach Out message and as an Undivided Prefect I will make sure that everyone feels equal.”

Maggie made a visual representation of her pledge. (below)
