After a three-year hiatus, it was a delight to be able to facilitate our Sixth Form students stepping out of their comfort zones and discovering new things in an international setting. And what better way to do that than in the cultural melting pot that is New York City?

During the first week of the half-term holiday, thirty six Sixth Formers went on an exciting adventure to The Big Apple. Students stayed in a lovely hotel near Times’ Square in the heart of Manhattan and visited many of the city’s famous landmarks – the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, MoMa, the Rockefeller Centre, Central Park and more.

There was also the chance to learn about the history of civil rights in Harlem, undertake a street art tour and workshop in the Lower East Side, visit Princeton University campus, and to reflect on a sobering visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum. With time for shopping, dinners out and a Broadway show, they certainly packed a lot into their five day trip!
